Biographical Information

(b. 1947) Gary Bachlund studied voice with Dorothy Fries at Immaculate Heart College, where he received a bachelor's degree in 1968. He earned his master's in 1991 and a doctorate in 1993 in composition from the University of California, Los Angeles. Since then, he has privately studied theory and composition. He has appeared as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony, the American Symphony at Carnegie Hall, and the Cincinnati May Festival. He has also appeared in title roles in operas such as Wagner's Tristan und Isolde and Parsifal, among others.
