Abstract

In the summer of 2026, I had the opportunity to spend some time in the Marian Library looking for sources for my book, Alternative Maternities: Bodies, Death, and Argentine Citizenship Since 1820 (Rutgers University Press, 2027). This project explores how maternal figures have been symbols on which Argentine nationhood has been constructed since the 19^th century.
