Abstract

Inventorying is crucial for managing and stewarding library collections to ensure items can be found by patrons and library staff. Although Alma has some capabilities with its Shelf Reporting Inventory tool, there are some limitations

  • Must upload a file
  • No real-time information as you scan
  • No timestamps as you scan
  • Limited to choosing only a single location (this option may not work as well if you interfile locations together)
  • Range inventory option requires a call number type and call number range

For this project, we adapted a previous inventorying tool with Sierra and Google Sheets for Alma.
