Why the honoree chose the book
I was privileged to have Dwight Conquergood as my mentor and professor at Northwestern University while pursing my doctoral work in performance studies. His work collapses the theory/practice divide and situates ethnographic research at the heart of performance praxis. His scholarship will stand the test of time due to his influence on performance studies and theater practice for social justice.
