Why the honoree chose the book
The Apollo program inspired my career in engineering. I met Gene Kranz in 2011 and found him personally engaging and inspiring as well. While his book was published long after my career began, it's a reminder of the hard work, discipline, and oftentimes courage that are implicit in any creative endeavor.
