Description
Portrait of the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus done in the icon style. The background and details are done with gold. The caption says in Italian that the portrait is a very ancient miraculous image venerated in the Austro-Hungarian Church. The back of the card has a prayer by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux to the Virgin Mary, known as the Memorare, in Italian. This card was printed by an unknown publisher, probably in Italy, in the early twentieth century.

Antichississima Prodigiosa Immagine di MARIA VERGINE Che si venera nella Chiesa Austro-Ungarica Dedicata al SS.mo Sue Nome presso il Foro Trajano. (front) Orazione di S. Bernardo. Ricordatevi, o piissima Vergine Maria, non essersi mai udito che sia stato abbandonato chi ba ricorso a Voi, implorato il vostro aiuto, chiesto il vostro soccorso. Io animato da tale confidenza, o Madre Vergine delle Vergini a Voi ricorro, a Voi vengo, innanzi a Voi peccatore contrito mi prostro. Non vogliate o Madre del Verbo sdegnare le mie preghiere, ma ascoltatemi propizia ed esauditemi. Così sia. Indulgenza di 300 giorni ogni volta ohe si recita la suddetta preghiera, e indulg. plenaria una volta al mese alle solite condizioni, recitandola una volta al giorno per lo spazio di un mese (Pio IX 25 Luglio 1846).
