Description

Saint Joseph, holding lilies, stands with a hand on the child Jesus' shoulder in a pastoral setting. Jesus has his arms extended. A dove appears over Saint Joseph's head, and God is looking down from the clouds upon the scene. This card was printed by an unknown publisher at an unknown date, probably in the early 20th century.

Transcription

St. Joseph. Behold I come. In the head of the book it is written of me, that I should do thy will: O my God I have desired it, and thy law in the midst of my heart. Psalm 39, 8, 9. Set before me for a law the way of thy justifications, O Lord: and I will always seek after it. Give me understanding, and I will search thy law: and I will keep it with my whole heart. Lead me into the path of thy commandments; for this same I have desired. Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. Behold I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy justice. Psalms. With Ecclesiastical Approbation. (back)
