Description

Reliquary containing relics of the Martyrs of Gorkum, Saint Catherine of Ricci, Saint Vincent Ferrer, Saint Rose of Lima, Saint Thomas the Apostle, and an unidentified Saint Anthony. The Martyrs of Gorkum was a group of 19 priests who were hanged by the Calvinists on July 9, 1572, for refusing to denounce their faith and beliefs. Saint Catherine de Ricci (1522-1590) was a mystic who bore the stigmata. Saint Vincent (1350-1419) was a Dominican friar who became a missionary. Saint Rose (1586-1617) is known for her care of the sick and needy, and was the first person born in the Americas to be canonized. Saint Thomas the Apostle was one of the Twelve Disciples of Jesus.
