Biographical Information

(b.1932) Born in Cleveland, OH, Adams received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Oberlin College, Masters of Music from California State University, Long beach, and Ph.D. in Music from The Ohio State University. He is a pianist-composer, organist, conductor, writer and educator. Adams taught at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and the University of Kansas. He also has been the Composer-in-residence at Karamu House in Cleveland (1979-80), and Cleveland Music School Settlement (1981-82). Currently, Adams is the executive vice-president and composer-in-residence of Creative Arts, Incorporated, a nonprofit arts organization in Cleveland, OH that promotes the work of minority artists.
