Abstract
Several students, through the University of Dayton program, ETHOS (Engineers in Technical, Humanitarian Opportunities of Service) traveled to Managua, Nicaragua for a service opportunity to work with a company called Prolena. This company is dedicated to the testing and manufacturing of efficient biomass cook stoves. There is a high need for more efficient stoves due to the amount of deforestation, health issues with current stove techniques, and poverty in this developing country. One of the main goals as ETHOS volunteers was to test the constructed stoves at Prolena for efficiency numbers and determine what kind of changes or improvements needed to be made.
