Abstract
The previous summer, the team worked with and lived on the Zona Juvenil Youth Ranch in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. The ranch provides a home to a close-knit family of teenage boys, all of whom have suffered severe abuse or neglect in one form or another. Coming from unimaginable circumstances, the ranch offers these boys a chance at family, community, and a future as they have never known. The team lived with the boys, getting up each morning to continue work on the ranch. Due to the nature of the ranch, work was rather unstructured. Over the course of the ten weeks spent on the ranch, the team designed and completed four major projects: completing new bedrooms, designing/installing a fire suppression system, installing a rainwater collection system, and constructing the framework for a new greenhouse.
