Abstract
Miguel Arzate and Katy Berquist worked with the foundation Centro De Desarrollo En Energia Solar (CEDESOL) in Cochabamba, Bolivia, headed by David Whitfield. While in the office, they worked on two separate projects. Miguel worked on Kyoto Twist, while Katy was writing up a proposal for receiving Climate Care funds. Both projects were introduced to the students upon arrival in Cochabamba and to be completed by the time of departure at the conclusion of their trip. In addition to these projects, the students traveled to repair broken stoves and assisted in community demonstrations of the stoves and solar cookers to raise awareness of the environmental and health benefits, as well as explaining the technical aspects of the cookers. During this time, Miguel and Katy traveled to Cliza, Anzaldo, Saipina, Lalaja, Chapare, and Boyuibe to assist CEDESOL through explanation and demonstration for the community members. At the completion of their stay in Cochabamba, the Kyoto Twist project was underway and the Climate Care proposal had been submitted and approved for CEDESOL funding.
