Abstract

One specific possible application that has been looked at in-depth for the solar cooker is the possibility of a solar autoclave. This is being researched at UD. The solar autoclave is a solar cooker that can heat and sterilize medical equipment. The possibility of a solar autoclave is very exciting. With a solar autoclave a medical institution without electricity can sterilize their medical equipment. At UD the structure of the solar autoclave is being perfected. Hopefully the end model will be effective and practical for people in developing countries with limited resources to use. If successful the solar autoclave will help save lives.
