Abstract
This past summer the group travelled to La Paz, Bolivia to work with an organization called Funprobo in their prosthetics clinic. La Paz is one of two capital cities in Bolivia and is the highest capital city in the world. Bolivia is a landlocked country with varying climates and many different languages and cultures. La Paz itself is mountainous with a wet and a dry season and many different cultures. There are many different neighborhoods in La Paz, each with their own unique characteristics. Funprobo is located within the unique neighborhood of Sopocachi and focuses on designing and supplying prosthetic limbs to Bolivians who may not have the means to do it themselves. This is the only clinic of its kind in Bolivia and runs mainly off donations and the teaching salary of its founder and CEO. They do not require their patients to pay for their services but ask for patients to at least pay a small amount, 10 percent, of the cost of the prosthetic. Some of the time patients are not able to give money and as a result, the materials and process of the prosthetic creation must be as efficient and effective as possible.Throughout the course of the immersion the group was able to work on a variety of different individual prosthetic projects that provided the necessary prosthetic for a patient.
