Abstract
This focus on an informational desk reference in the area of furniture design is a result of personal participation by the author in the area of furniture design. As an educator of furniture design the author finds it necessary to expand his knowledge base on the history of furniture so as to better satisfy the needs of the student. The information presented in this project contains time periods, movements, trends, descriptions and photographs that describe the time evolution of furniture from 1600 to 1970. A booklet will be developed utilizing this information to serve as a desk reference for students participating in furniture design. Therefore it is the stated objective of this study to develop a comprehensive documentation of the history of American furniture design in the form of a desk reference that will assist the author in his educating of furniture design.
