Abstract
Africa today stands at a cross-roads. It continues to face enormous problems of economic and political development, and there is an acute need for fresh perspectives in development policy analysis that are intended to suggest possible solutions to these problems. Therefore, it is propitious that we launch at this time the Journal of African Policy Studies. We are fortunate to have a particularly strong set of articles in this inaugural issue.
