Marianist Province Archivist: Mary E. Kenney

The Marianist Province Archives contain the permanent record of governance and administration of the historic and current provinces of the Society of Mary in the United States, 1849 to present. Also included are materials of historical relevance. It is indeed a “place of memory” where the life of the Province in the United States, within the larger body of the Society of Mary, is documented.

The archives are the private files of the Provincial Superior and his staff. Any access to these records is granted under his authority. The activities of the Marianists in the United States in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries are pertinent in American history and the Society’s current educational, spiritual, and apostolic arenas of activity. Photographs, blueprints and plans, and maps also document the Marianist imprint on the United States.

The collection has a single provenance which is the Society of Mary. Contained are a wide spectrum of document types and genres of materials, including special collections of publications of Marianist members of the Province.
