The Philanthropic Community as a Gift Economy
New Directions in Philanthropic Fundraising
The ethics of fundraising derive in a most basic sense from the purposes and ideals of philanthropy. We can think of philanthropy as a "gift economy" in which fundraisers facilitate the movement of gifts among donors and recipients. Through sharing our gifts we create community among all participants.
