Metaphysics as a Guide to Morals by Iris Murdoch

Why the honoree chose the book

Iris Murdoch and her friends—Philippa Foot, Mary Midgley, and Elizabeth Anscombe—are increasingly recognized as important moral philosophers of the twentieth century; therefore, the time is right, it seems to me, to add this book to the library’s collection. On a more personal note, Metaphysics as a Guide to Morals has helped shape my understanding of what it means to teach and study literature here at the University of Dayton.
