Why the honoree chose the book
The author of this book is a role model for me — a strong, thoughtful woman doing theology. In this book, she shows how a person can bring the tradition of the church together with contemporary questions about gender or other questions that we sometimes think are not a part of that tradition. She also takes prayer, worship, social justice, and the whole of Christian life seriously, and that holistic vision is important to me as a scholar.
