Why the honoree chose the book
"Rowell," as we called this volume in the graduate cardiovascular course taught by my advisor, covers the fundamental principles of the regulation of cardiovascular function at rest and during stress (e.g. gravitational, exercise). Written by one of the foremost integrative phyisologists, it served as both reference and inspiration for my formative scholarship and continues to be something I recommend to my own students.
