Description

Jesus, holding a eucharistic chalice in one hand, presents the host to a boy kneeling before him at an altar. The boy has a white ribbon tied to one arm. An angel wearing pink robes stands behind the boy with one hand on his shoulder. A second angel, wearing blue, kneels before Christ. A ray of light shines onto Jesus from above. The back of the card has an inscription commemorating the First Communion of Charles Zimmerman at the St. Joseph parish school in Colmar, in the Alsace region of France. This card was made by the Parisian printer De Gerval, and sold by J.-B. Blaise, a religious bookseller in Colmar.
