Description

Jesus is crucified on the cross, wearing white linens and a crown of thorns. The cross is on a barren hill, Mount Calvary, with Jerusalem visible in the background. The illustration is framed by blue lilies on a gold background. Directly above the cross in the border is a crown of thorns. The back of the card has an inscription commemorating a mission given by Father S.P. Hueber at St. John's Church in Waunakee, Wisconsin from January 20th through 29th, 1928. The inscription includes directions for the parishioners to continue after the mission's conclusion. This card was printed in Germany by an unknown publisher, attributed only as M.H. on the front of the card.

Transcription

Remembrance of the holy Mission (front) Remembrance of the Mission given by Very Rev. S. P. Hueber, C.M. St. John's Church Waunakee, Wis. January 20th to 29th, 1928. In order to preserve the Fruits of this Mission. 1. Be faithful in saying your daily prayers. 2. Attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Day. 3. Receive the sacraments every month; if possible, oftener. 4. Avoid familiarity with irreligious people--mixed marriages--shun reading infidel and immoral books and newspapers. 5. Contribute, according to your means, to the support of your church and send your children to the Catholic school. 6. Devoutly honor the Blessed Virgin and pray to her daily, especially for the grace of a happy death. 7. Remember the four last things: Death, Judgment, Heaven, Hell,--and you will preserve to the end. Very Rev. C. J. Hausner, Pastor. (back)
