This collection of interviews with people who knew and interacted with Orville Wright, Wilbur Wright and/or Charles F. Kettering took place during the 1966-67 academic year. Under the direction of Dr. Wilfred J. Steiner, head of Institutional Studies, two graduate students in the historical master's program conducted the interviews. A decade later, Johannah Sherrer, head of the UD library reference department, oversaw their transcription. Upon completion of the project, the transcripts and the original reel-to-reel audio tape were transferred to the University Archives and Special Collections.
