Walk the Talk Case Writing Competition
Article Title
Abstract
In this fictional case, Trent is a college graduate with a mechanical engineering degree. Trent recently interviewed and was hired by IOC (Industrial Oven Corp.).
When Trent interviewed, IOC asked him about some of his past job experiences. As indicated on his resume, Trent used to work for a small company called INDUSTRIAL-PRO, which manufactures a different kind of ovens and furnaces. Intrigued, the HR Manager asked him to elaborate on his experience. Trent did, but he didn't reveal that it was his family's business, and he would have the option to take it over someday.
When he started at IOC, he discovered he'd be required to sign a non-compete clause that included a prohibition on entering or starting a new business with similar products.
