Abstract
Relative to asynchronous network performance, a synchronous UWB network with Gold coded TH-PPM modulation yields average BER improvement of -6.30 dB with no multipath present (N/sub MP/=0) and -0.30 dB for N/sub MP/=10. Synchronous DS-BPSK modulation yields improvement of -13.01 dB (N/sub MP/=0) and -2.51 dB (N/sub MP/=10). For a single communication link, P/sub b/ increases by a factor of 1.5 (TH-PPM) and 25 (DS-BPSK) per multipath replication.
