Abstract

This study seeks to examine adolescent groupthink and inform my practice with middle school youth by investigating how peer influence impacts adolescents' ability to think independently. The findings will guide my professional approach and contribute to research that can help formulate a curriculum to foster strong leadership skills in young people. The potential benefits of this research include gaining a deeper understanding of the adolescent mindset and the specific factors that influence their decision making processes. By utilizing a narrative inquiry methodology, the study will collect adolescent narratives that invite reflection on the social, mental, emotional, and physical aspects of their experiences. These insights will provide a deeper understanding of how peer dynamics influence their thinking and actions, offering valuable perspectives on bolstering healthier decision making and leadership in young people.
