Abstract

The photoreactive taxol side chain, (2R,3S)-(−)-N-(4′-azido-benzoyl-3-phenylisoserine methyl ester (6), was prepared in four steps from (2R,3R)-(+)-methyl 3-phenylglycidate (2).

In an effort to synthesize a photoreactive taxol derivative (7), the side chain (2R,3S)-(−)-N-(4′-azido-benzoyl-3-phenylisoserine methyl ester (6), was prepared in four steps from (2R,3R)-(+)-methyl 3-phenylglycidate (2).
