My Dear Sir,

Herewith I comply with your request to send you ten of my poems in manuscript, several of them are my earlier efforts while others are of quite late date. I hope after you have deciphered my writing you will not be wholly disappointed in the verses. I am preparing to publish a book of verse about Christmas, if you can send me the names of any sure buyers, you will greatly oblige me; Its price will be one dollar.

Hoping you will be satisfied with the verses sent.

Paul Laurence Dunbar St.), the home Dunbar purchased for his mother, Matilda J. Dunbar, in 1904. Paul Laurence Dunbar lived there until his death in 1906; Matilda lived there until her death in 1934. It is now part of the Paul Laurence Dunbar House Historic Site, which is operated by the National Park Service in partnership with the Ohio History Connection.
