My dear Paul:
Your letter has just reached me, the delay being caused by your failure to place on the envelope the necessary postage. I received a notice from the Dayton Postmaster last Friday stating that a letter addressed to me was being held at that office for the above named reason. Immediately I mailed

a stamp and your dear letter has just arrived. I am indeed sorry that the clippings and program you were kind enough to send me, have been so delayed in their return to you, but I hope it is not yet too late.
I am delighted at your success my dear Paul and I can not tell you how proud I am of you. I will not take the time to answer your letter now, as I want you

to receive this as soon as possible. Will write again today.

This item is part of the Paul Laurence Dunbar House collection at Ohio History Connection, Columbus, Ohio. The collection contains items from 219 N. Summit St., Dayton, Ohio (later 219 N. Paul Laurence Dunbar St.), the home Dunbar purchased for his mother, Matilda J. Dunbar, in 1904. Paul Laurence Dunbar lived there until his death in 1906; Matilda lived there until her death in 1934. It is now the Paul Laurence Dunbar House Historic Site, part of the National Park Service.
