Description

Full text of letter:

Far Rockaway, L.I. [Long Island, New York]

Aug. 23, 1896

Dear Mr. Dunbar

The coat came back safely and promptly; but I am sorry to learn that it did not save you from taking cold. May it cover, hereafter, as good and gifted a man as when you wore it.

We were all greatly pleased to meet you and make your acquaintance, and we shall watch your fortunes with the cordial interest of friends.

Yours sincerely

W.D. Howells
