This is a letter in response to a request by Paul Lauence Dunbar to publish a poem he had written for Roosevelt's son Kermit in a book of poems for children.
Full text of letter on White House letterhead:
March 14, 1904
My dear Sir:
Your letter of the 12th has been received, and in reply I beg to state that the President will be pleased to have you do as you suggest.

It is now part of the Paul Laurence Dunbar House Historic Site, which is operated by the National Park Service in partnership with the Ohio History Connection.
