When the Senate amended the “Students’ Academic Rights and Responsibilities” section of the Faculty Handbook in early 2023 with legislation 2023-02, the Senate left unchanged 6.A.4 of that document on “Disclosure of Information.” It is only that section that stands in tension with university-wide FERPA policy.
The university-wide FERPA policy has developed since 6.A.4 was written in the Faculty Handbook. Unintentionally, SAPC reinforced an outdated policy upon putting forth DOC 2023-02. This proposal, then, brings that policy in line with current university FERPA policy.
