Abstract
Cybersecurity is a rapidly growing field with well-paying professional positions leading to senior levels within manufacturers, healthcare organizations, retailers, and service firms. The proposed multidisciplinary program will leverage existing courses in Management Information Systems (MIS), Criminal Justice, Political Science, and Communications.
The faculty of the Management Information Systems, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Business Analytics department propose to offer a new undergraduate major, Cybersecurity Management. This desire is rooted in the demand for the major, a recognition that a few cross admit schools offer the major, and a desire to leverage the existing MIS curriculum for the benefit of additional undergraduate students. We also desire to offer a major which can complement existing SBA majors such as Business Analytics, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Finance.
The anticipated initial demand for the major is approximately 5 students per year in existing courses and up to 10 students within 5 years and as such requires no additional resources. Details about the forecast, resources, curriculum and such are found following, pursuant to the University of Dayton Senate constitution (par II.B.1.a), and organized according to Senate Document 2014-04 “Actions pertaining to degree programs and academic departments”.
