Description
Plastic doll is wearing a habit worn by novices of the Sisters of the Holy Family. In 1837 Mothers Henriette De Lisle and Juliette Gaudin founded this order as the Sisters of the Presentation in New Orleans, Louisiana for free African American women to minister to the poor. The order changed its name in 1842. The black doll is wearing a white dress with white veil, white wimple, and white collar. A white yarn belt is tied around the doll's waist from which hangs a black rosary.
