Description
Plastic doll is wearing a habit worn by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great. This Byzantine Catholic order has ancient origins in Asia Minor where Saint Basil and his sister, Saint Macrina, ministered, and first came to America in 1911 at the invitation of Philadelphia Bishop Soter Ortynsky. Today the order has its strongest presence in Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia. The doll is wearing a black dress, black scapular, white wimple, and black veil. A crucifix hangs from around the doll's neck, and a black rosary hangs from the doll's waist.
