Description
Porcelain doll wearing the typical habit of the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, who administered the Lavelle School for the Blind in Bronx, New York. The congregation was founded in Blauvelt, New York by Sister Mary Ann Sammon in 1853. The doll's dress, wimple, and collar are off-white, and the veil is black and rounded. She has a black rosary hanging from her waist. The doll's habit was made by Sister Floretta, O.P. (Alice Fennegan) and Sister Alma, O.P. (Violet Beam), who were both Dominican Sisters teaching at the Lavell School for the Blind in Bronx, New York.
