Why the honoree chose the book
The Aubrey/Maturin books have provided escapism for me for 20 years. The whole series has a writing style that sets it apart from anything else I have read. I selected the first book in the series for inclusion in the library for my first promotion and am now selecting the second book for my second promotion.
