Why the honoree chose the book
I selected this book because it has served as an invaluable and reliable resource during my 50 years of teaching music in K-12 schools and colleges and universities. The focus of my scholarship work, classroom teaching, and music performance has been on global music and culture through world music survey courses and world music choirs that I founded and directed. This source book contains information to facilitate the comprehensive teaching of all world music in its historical, cultural, and geographic contexts.
