Why the honoree chose the book
This book first captivated me when my teacher read it to my fifth grade class. I loved the smart and nerdy girl protagonist, the whole idea of time travel, and the battle between good and evil. I've reread it numerous times, and it is one of my all-time favorites. This book showed me that smart girls are cool and brave. It is a gem even after 65 years.
