Why the honoree chose the book
From its very outset, Postman's Technopoly does what a great book on technology should do: It catalyzes reflection on our values, our practices and their strained correlation in a culture in which technology is often viewed as a panacea. Postman chooses the wiser, more deeply enlightening path, leading us to consider the embedded impacts of a pro-technological mentality rather than just particular negative results of a given tool.
