Description
Using nature as a source for autumnal color and shapes without direct referral to the actual forms of nature, tree forms are suggested in a way that causes them to become the referral points in this abstract painting by Brother Joseph Barrish. Barrish is a well-known Dayton artist who has received numerous artistic awards. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Brother Barrish obtained his degrees from the University of Dayton (B.S. in Ed.) and Ohio State University (M.A.). He also had Special Student status at the Pratt Institute and worked with Birgit Skoild of the Print Workshop in London, England. Barrish's works can be found in many public and private collections throughout the region. He has served as assistant professor of fine arts and commerical design coordinator in the University of Dayton Fine Arts Department and serves as gallery supervisor of Gallery St. John. Barrish is director of the Sun and Stars Artworks Design Studio.
