The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration settled in Clyde, Missouri, under the leadership of Mother Mary Anselma Felber in 1874. They established a school and an orphanage for immigrant children and supported themselves through the products of their farm. In 1901, the Sisters purchased their first printing press and began a decades-long publishing ministry. The Sisters’ publishing output included religious magazines, pamphlets and booklets. In 1951, they sent out more than 85,000 booklets in two months. Although very successful, their publishing ministry was discontinued after Vatican II because of the need for significant revision of the booklets’ texts to align with current theology.
