Biographical Information

(b.1925) After a public school education in Berkeley, CA Owens went to Paris working for four years as a piano student of Alfred Cortot. Although he has had several academic positions in the US he has been particularly active through Europe and moved to Munich. Owens' work appears in anthologies of songs of African-American composers, but has not been widely recorded or performed. He is also a professional actor.
