April 4-6, 2019, University of Dayton
Are you ready to SOAR with us?! The 41st Annual East Central Writing Centers Association (ECWCA) Conference will be hosted by the University of Dayton April 4-6, 2019, beginning with pre-conference activities the evening of Thursday, April 4, with conference sessions running through Saturday, April 6.
- Keynote speaker: Michael Mattison, Wittenberg University
Known as the birthplace of aviation, Dayton understands the creative power of invention and discovery. Let's explore how this power ignites our work in writing centers.
This year's conference kicks off on Thursday night with Soaring...in a Flash...to New Heights, featuring lightning talks from area writing center tutors, networking opportunities, and light food and beverage.
Friday features a full day and a half of sessions with plenty of options to choose from in each time block! After a morning full of exciting panels, workshops, roundtables, special interest groups, and individual presentations, we will gather together for our keynote luncheon featuring Mike Mattison's keynote speech "On the Evolution of Writing Tutors." After an afternoon full of more great sessions and an opportunity for attendees to explore the area around the University of Dayton to eat dinner off-site, please plan to join us for Friday night's dessert and mocktail reception and tutor award ceremony at America's Packard Museum! It is going to be a great time, so don't miss out!
Saturday will begin with organized state meetings, followed by more exciting sessions! After the last session, be sure to join us for our closing luncheon for some final remarks and a chance to reflect on our amazing time together at ECWCA 2019!
Please note that all conference events, except for Friday night's social, will be held at University of Dayton's Curran Place building (1700 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton, OH, 45409). Friday night's social will be just a short drive down the street from the conference at America's Packard Museum (420 S. Ludlow St., Dayton, OH, 45402). Free parking will be available at both locations for conference attendees.
