Ryan C. Harris Learning Teaching Center

Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Learning Initiatives: Lee Dixon

The Ryan C. Harris Learning Teaching Center — "LTC" for short — is the University of Dayton's laboratory for innovation in learning and teaching.

Opened in 2000 on the ground floor of Roesch Library, the LTC consists of five areas: the Office of Learning Resources; Faculty and Leadership Development; Office of Faculty Career Enhancement; Curriculum Innovation and e-Learning; and the Blend, the student-run coffee shop.

The center is named in memory of Ryan C. Harris, a student who came to the University determined to succeed with a learning disability. Late in his second year, he wrote a paper in which he described a vision of a learning center on campus where students with disabilities could access state-of-the-art technology, as well as a caring and expert staff. After his death in 1997, his father provided a gift to the University to equip an assistive technology lab and create a space designed to instill passion in all students and faculty for learning and teaching.
