The student-produced publication The Exponent ran from 1903 to 1969. It started as a monthly news magazine of St. Mary's Institute, mostly from September through July, providing institutional news, alumni information and athletics coverage. Over the years, as the institute transitioned into a university, the publication became the University of Dayton's literary magazine, published four times per year.
