Abstract

College students vying for jobs with successful American companies are finding that international experience is one way of seperating themselves from the pack. The number of students nationally earning academic credit for study abroad grew by 5.7 percent in 1995-96, the most recent year for which statistics are available, and the increase in 1994-95 was 11 percent. Both evaluations come from the Institute of International Education, which tracks international educational exchange. At the University of Dayton, since 1996, enrollment in UD's Interdepartmental Summer Study Abroad Program has doubled, with 150 students signed up for the 1998 summer term.
