The digital collage I made conveys the message of having hope in times of uncertainty. This collage includes elements from the 1918 Spanish flu and the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. Some of the elements from the past are paintings from artist Egon Schiele and Edvard Munch. Both of these artists endured the Spanish flu in 1918.
This collage was mostly done digitally but includes a hand-painted self-portrait inspired by the works of Egon Schiele, who tragically never recovered from the Spanish flu. When designing this collage, I wanted to imitate the concept of a political poster. Containing elements like stars, multiple people wearing masks, and the bold type “HAVE HOPE,” the poster supports the concept and shows unity.
