A History of the Trombone, by David M. Guion

Why the honoree chose the book

Guion's book is the most recent, most complete, and most readable history of the trombone. While the trombone is not the most ancient of the brass instruments, its use of the slide mechanism has positioned it uniquely among all instruments during its 500 years of existence.
